This chapter explains what Pmd is, who it is for, and what you can do with it.

Pmd is a native Markdown reader and editor for macOS. It is for people who open a whole folder of notes, read them in preview, edit when needed, and export TXT or HTML.

Main features

  • Open Folder: Scan Markdown, text, HTML, and PHP files and list them in the sidebar.
  • Read: Render headings, lists, code blocks, tables, and task lists in preview.
  • Edit: Change the source and save with ⌘ + S.
  • Search: Filter by file name, or search the text of every document in the folder.
  • Export: Export the current file as TXT or HTML, or merge the folder into one HTML file with a table of contents.

You can still open and read files without a license. Creating, editing, saving, and exporting require a trial, subscription, or lifetime license.
